Plugins & Updates is the shared component-management application. It can inspect the official catalog, install missing compatible plugins and review updates for registered components.

Install a plugin

  1. Open Plugins & Updates from the Editor or Core Settings.
  2. Search the catalog and inspect the plugin identity, requirements and available version.
  3. Select the component and review the complete compatible set, including any required companion upgrades.
  4. Review publisher evidence, new permissions and any explicit package warnings.
  5. Approve the displayed plan when it matches your intended installation.

Execution trust is separate from source approval. A downloaded community plugin still needs an accepted signature and the appropriate publisher trust decision.

Apply updates

Packages download and are checked while Core continues running. The installation step prepares participating clients, saves applied project state and closes the required processes. The separate updater activates the approved set, checks the new Core and project, and returns the preferred Editor.

Review any protected drafts or unresolved operations first. Validation failures, unsupported pending drafts, refusal to close or failed Save can postpone installation while retaining the working installation.

Third-party components

Manage components can enroll supported plugin folders and Editor/Reader packages with their own sources and publisher keys. Approve only sources you intended to add. Reader is an editor component with requested API permissions, not a privileged role.

Unmarked development folders do not provide the registered installation needed by this workflow. Do not replace component files manually while Core is running.
