Update a statistic from a selected event without a separate automation.

Before you start

Use a test project connected to Core. Review Apply and Save before testing a changed definition.

Steps

  1. Create a typed Statistics value and choose the intended session or persistent storage behavior.
  2. Add a rule for the signal that should update it.
  3. Select the source field through Insert Field and configure the rule's operation.
  4. Apply the definition/rule changes and supply a representative event.
  5. Inspect the current value and the rule's input, result, match time, processed count and error.

Verify

The rule updates the value from qualifying events without requiring an automation for that counter. Inspect the rule's diagnostics and current value, then save the applied project when the result is correct.

This configuration example starts at 0 and shows Waiting. It illustrates the rule setup before a qualifying event; it does not show an incremented result.

If it does not work

Review duplicate-event diagnostics and reset behavior. Definition edits, current values and persistent sidecar data have separate roles.
