Streaming Hub 0.1
Piper
Generate and play speech with a local Piper text-to-speech runtime.
AlphaCapabilities
- Convert text to speech with a configured Piper voice.
- Select a default voice and speaker where supported.
- Generate and play audio from automation steps.
Integration signals can start automations. Integration actions are added as steps.
Requirements
- Internet access during the first managed installation; the plugin finds or installs its private Python runtime automatically.
- At least one compatible voice model.
- A usable audio output device when playback is required.
Connect
- Open Services → Piper TTS, or double-click Piper in the status bar.
- For the managed setup, select Install Piper and wait while Streaming Hub downloads and configures the runtime and initial English voice.
- Choose an installed voice and optionally enable Start Server on Launch.
- For an existing Piper installation, select External Server instead and enter its URL.
- Start the server, save settings, and run a short test phrase.
- Use Open Voices Folder to add compatible models for other voices or languages.
Verify the connection
The Piper service reports ready and a test action generates audible speech without a runtime or voice-model error.
Limitations
Voice quality, language support and speaker selection depend on the installed model. Local synthesis time depends on the model and computer.
Troubleshooting
Check the service status and filter the Log panel by the integration source. Reopen the integration settings to verify credentials, address and required external-service permissions.
